OITE's successful staging of five major events alongside the 48-day Salalah Tourism Festival provided a special platform for both local and foreign businesses to showcase their products and services, thus make inroads into the booming market in the Dhofar region. The OITE events, namely, The Shopping Fair; IT, Telecom & Technology Show; Travel, Property and Investment Show; Books & Education Fair; and the Origin Oman Show were a testimony to its steadfast commitment to providing greater support to development of the aforementioned sectors in the Dhofar region.

The Shopping Fair, a consumer fair staged alongside the Salalah Festival, attracted 450 exhibitors from various countries and generated major footfalls during the event. OITE also organized Spring Fair which was held in February 2008 at the Municipality grounds in Salalah. By its role during the year, OITE is now a popular name for exhibitions in Dhofar.

With over 20 years dedicated service to the industry, OITE has carved a niche in the business world, having established itself as a premier organizer of high quality trade exhibitions; exceptional conferences and festivals.

Mr. Baabood said:
"In pursuit of development and growth, OITE constantly seeks to address the growing needs of the business sector, through its trade exhibitions and consumer fairs. Our more than two decades of experience in the exhibition industry have made us understand and cater to the ever changing business and consumer trends. OITE is honored to have contributed to the success of the recent Salalah Tourism Festival and will continue to play an important role in this important region."

OITE is the first and only event organizer in the Sultanate to be an ISO certified company and a UFI member. UFI is the Paris based global association of the exhibitions industry. Two of the company's flagship events, namely COMEX - an IT, Telecom & Technology Exhibition and GHEDEX - an International Higher Education Exhibition, are UFI approved events. OITE is also Oman's first member of AUIEC - Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences. Ahmed Baabood has been reelected as the First Vice Chairman of UFI, Middle East Chapter.
