Thales opens new headquarter at Abu Dhabi Airport Business and Logistics Park

1. Abu Dhabi Airport Business & Logistics Park

Abu Dhabi Airport Business & Logistics Park is an intrinsic element in a $6.8 billion master plan of projects owned by Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC). Spread across 12 sq km around the airport, the business & logistics park aims at promoting diversified private sector investments into Abu Dhabi Emirate and generating non-aeronautical revenues. The park offers one-stop investor-friendly services, world-class corporate amenities and a strategic location in the heart of the Middle East. The project is planned to be delivered in phases, with construction for Phase 1 having already started in 2007 and scheduled for completion by 2010. Work for Phase 2 will commence by 2011 with all phases expected to be fully delivered by 2015.

2. Air Traffic Control Centre (ATCC)

Operational Height: 21 Storeys

Internal Floor Space (total): 7,400sqm

Tower Cab Floor Space: 135sqm

The new Air Traffic Control Complex has been designed to provide the air traffic controllers with a clear sight of both runways and the new fully expanded area for Abu Dhabi International Airport. Due to the length of the runways (4.0km and 4.1 km) and the requirement to see areas that would otherwise be hidden by the roof of the new midfield terminal building, the operational height of the tower cab is equivalent to a 21 storey building - placing the controllers with an eye-level of 105m above the surrounding ground level.

The Visual Control Room (VCR) on level 21 will allow nine staff to operate both runways in a simultaneous operational mode. The lower floors are earmarked for the approach control room, offices, conference facilities, training rooms, a technical library, a simulator room, along with various maintenance and equipment rooms.

3. Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC):

Abu Dhabi Airports Company, ADAC, is a public joint-stock company wholly owned by Abu Dhabi Government. It was incorporated by Emiri Decree number 5, of March 4th, 2006, to spearhead the development of the Emirate's aviation infrastructure. ADAC has officially taken over the operation and management of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain international Airports, as of 28/09/2006. Under its mandate is the re-development and expansion of Abu Dhabi International Airport, which includes the new midfield terminal - a facility that will offer a 20 million passenger per year operational capacity when its first phase opens in late 2011.
