Sheikh Saud signs world's longest letter made as part of UAE National Day celebrations

H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, affixed his signature on what is billed to become the world's longest letter which will be presented to the President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the UAE National Day.
He commended the initiative and said that it would help strengthen common bonds of friendship and help appreciate the progress achieved by UAE in all spheres on the occasion of the UAE National Day.
The cycle procession, under the banner Union Marathon, started off from Fujairah on November 16 and will cover all the emirates to arrive in Abu Dhabi by December 2.
Ehsan Jadallah Nasr, Manager of Union Marathon, said that the event would provide an opportunity for all people in the UAE to express their love and affection for the country as well as become part of a new world record.
Lama Nasr, Leader of the team and Public Relations Manager of Union Marathon, said that the letter would be 400 metres long and would contain greetings, messages and signatures of people across the UAE.
She said that the team was made up of women from 22 Arab countries. "This is an attempt to show our love towards UAE for all that this great country has given us. The participation of all the 22 Arab countries in the team is also intended to spread the message of unity among Arab countries," she added.
Lama Nasr said that they hope to enlist the participation of as many as 1.5 million people who will write messages and affix their signatures on the letter. "Also we hope that the event would help the world have a correct understanding of Arab women regarding their active participation in all aspects of nation building," she added.
The letter will be displayed at shopping malls and other public places to enable people write their messages and signatures.
Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ahmed Mohammed Al Khatri, Chairman of the department of Ras Al Khaimah Courts, Mohammed Al Khait , Advisor at the Ras Al Khaimah Ruler's Court, and a number of officials were present at the function.
