There is a steep drop in projected growth by 66% in comparison to 2008, and this has been blamed on the economic downturn in West-ern countries, according to Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

The Middle East, however, will be much stronger than the global mar-ket: "The Middle East, and specifically the UAE, does not have the volume of legacy CCTV infrastructure in place that the US and North-ern Europe does. The business case for IP video is much stronger in the Middle East where most deployments are not replacing existing analog systems," said John Honovich, the founder of IP Video Market Info.

Global video surveillance camera revenues are forecast to exceed $9bn by 2011, maintaining a CAGR of 13.4%, while worldwide shipments of IP surveillance cameras is expected to grow at a CAGR of 88% till 2010 to cross $4bn.

"In the Middle East, both the public and private sector accord more significance to security than the US and Europe. In the US and Europe, video surveillance is used more for theft deterrence. While in the Middle East it is used much more extensively as an anti-terrorism tool. This makes the outlook for IP Video industry in this region much more positive than in the rest of the world," said Angela Schierholz, Senior Show Manager, Epoc Messe Frankfurt.

She added, According to recent reports megapixel camera growth rate will be 30% in 2009, while video analytic growth rate will be 10% in 2009, and IP cameras and video management software growth will be 15% in 2009.

The key players of the escalating IP industry and video surveillance market - Axis Communications, Sony Professional Solutions, Bosch Security Systems, Honeywell Security, GE Security, and Tyco Inter-national - will mark a major presence at the Intersec exhibition in 2009.

Over the years, Intersec trade fair and conference has grown in stat-ure. Intersec in 2009 will be spread across an area of 500,000 sq feet, with expected footage of over 20,000 visitors.

In parallel to the growth of the Intersec trade fair, the conference too is gaining in prominence. The Intersec International Conference in 2009 will feature presentations by more than 60 high profile speakers, on topics for the subject "fighting terrorism and serious organised crime".

The commercial security stream of the conference will feature pivotal topics, such as convergence of IP and physical security, analytics of video IP, security and biometrics based on eyeball reflexes, intelligent video surveillance, and many more.
