  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, December 09 - 2001 at 12:34
  • PRESS RELEASE

Exhibitors participating in Optical Middle East will demonstrate how the information technology era is impacting the eyecare profession.

Dubai, UAE
The exhibition, organised by the Dubai World Trade Centre will be held at the DWTC Exhibition Complex February 14-17, 2002. Several international companies participating in the event will showcase new equipment and technology that streamlines eyecare activities, including the fitting and preparation of lenses.

Among the participants will be a French company that will showcase products designed to provide eye care professionals with a competitive high tech marketing advantage. Activisu /IVS of France will showcase technical and virtual displays that feature high-quality digital imaging systems. The products enable consumers to compare frames with Image'in or Visual'eyes mirrors. Through this technology, clients can better visualize how a final eyewear product will look on themselves, particularly in relation to coatings, hi-index options, photochromic options, and specified lens weight and thickness.

"The optical and ophthalmic sectors are as heavily impacted by the IT era as other sectors and the 5th Middle East International Optical and Ophthalmic Exhibition will provide participants with an opportunity to discover what's new and how technology is improving processes and products. In addition to new high-tech equipment that will help eyecare professionals improve their services, there will be an array of products that incorporate new technology - including the launch of a new superlight high index plastic aspheric lens and new models of specialised low-vision aids for medial professionals," said Ibrahim Al-Hashemi, Corporate Manager - Exhibitions at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Gerber Coburn (U.K.) Optical Ltd. will showcase its Titan Lens Finishing System and the Gemini Lens Processing System at Optical Middle East. The Titan Edger system is an intuitive, integrated, industrial edging solution that increases productivity, improves quality and yields. The system is available as a stand-alone unit for conventional lens edging or as a component in a fully automated system

The system, which accommodates a variety of lenses - glass, plastic or polycarbonate - also features a 3D mapping system that outlines lenses in less than eight seconds, cutting traditional mapping times by 50 per cent.

WinOptik/ACCI of Denmark will feature and provide demonstrations of its user-friendly, comprehensive practice management software for eyecare professionals at Optical Middle East. The software provides links to various tracers, edgers, eye test systems and the activisu system.

Cerium Optical Products, which will feature a range of specialized equipment and consumable items for optical lenses production, will also showcase its newest addition, a drilling system for rimless lenses - the CNC Optidrill.
