Dubai Media City launches Talent Directory 2003

  • United Arab Emirates: Sunday, February 02 - 2003 at 13:16
  • PRESS RELEASE

Dubai Media City has announced the launch of the second edition of the Media Talent Directory - an easy-to-use guide to the media talent pool located at the Media Business Centres 1 and ll.

The Talent Directory 2003 is focused on the vast range of services and products offered by qualified media professionals, and aims to serve the needs of companies and agencies in the UAE businesses who seek the services of these professionals.

Abdulhamid Juma, CEO of Dubai Media City, announced the launch of the book, stating that: "It gives us great pleasure in presenting the second edition of the Talent Directory - a guide to the wealth of talent housed in our premises. While talent is what drives excellence and growth in every industry, it is the very lifeblood of the media sector.

"The Talent Directory will serve as an invaluable source to access services from this pool - easily, quickly and cost effectively," he said, adding that it was akin to having talent on tap.

Dubai Media City's Talent Directory 2003 lists over a hundred media professionals and entrepreneurs in six categories: Design and Advertising, Internet and New Media, Music and Film, Photography and Videography, PR and Events and Special Services, with ten or more entries in each category. Apart from profiles, it includes references, work samples, and other details of individuals and entrepreneurs housed at Dubai Media City.

The directory has been edited and published by Iona Stanley, herself a member of the Media Business Centre Community, with a media background that includes journalism, public relations and creative communications.

Commenting on her initiative, Amy Peterson, Business Centre Manager, said she was pleased that the Media Business Centre continues to attract professionals of calibre, and that their work spoke volumes in the world around them. "It does us enormously proud that partners at the Business Centre are excelling in their respective careers, and we are pleased to offer organisations the chance to take greater advantage of their experience and expertise.

"Communications play a major role in the Middle East region, with the critical mass of media professionals based at the Media Business Centres in Phase 1 and ll. The Talent Directory will be an invaluable and comprehensive resource for companies seeking information, people, solutions and services in various media sectors. We encourage all companies in the UAE to access our wide talent pool of over 175 professionals," Peterson urged.

The project has also garnered support and praise from the industry, with sponsorships extended by leading media firms and agencies located in the UAE. John Deykin, Managing Director of tmh (The Media House), one of the sponsors of the projects, said: "We firmly believe that talent is the greatest need in our community. Efforts like this will go a long way both towards helping experienced individuals and allowing companies like us to extend the support they need and deserve. We commend Dubai Media City and the publisher, Iona Stanley, for their efforts towards empowering us with much needed information."

The Talent Directory will be distributed to various organisations, agencies, media houses and communication institutes within the UAE. Copies of the directory can be availed of from the Media Business Centre receptions on request, until stocks last, the first reception is based in the second floor of building two (CNN) at phase one, the second reception is based in the ground floor of building eight at phase two and the third reception is based in the first floor of building eight at phase two of Dubai Media City.
