Elaine Watson General Manager of the Courtyard by Marriott and Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai Green Community has won the General Manager of the Year Award Middle East by Hotelier Magazine Middle East.

The award ceremony took place in Dubai on the 12th of November during a gala dinner. Ms. Watson was short listed with 4 General Managers from various hotels in the Middle East region. Together with Ms. Watson 2 other associates from the Courtyard by Marriott Dubai Green Community were short listed in 3 different categories. Mr. Wael Farouk was short listed for Director of Engineering as well as Green Hotelier of the year and Mr. Christian Biesbrouck in the category Executive Chef of the Year.

Ms. Watson says:

"I was truly shocked and of course delighted for many reasons to win this award. I was amazed to be in the short list and never for a moment thought I would win. I had some admirable competition and my own winner chosen. Winning this award is a great achievement and I always strive to be the best in whatever I am doing, - if you love what you are doing - it is easy to be good at what you do."

Ms. Watson has worked with Marriott International for the past 20 years and was assigned to the Courtyard and Marriott Executive Apartments, Dubai Green Community project in February 2003. Prior to that Ms. Watson was the General Manager of the Marriott Executive Apartments Dubai Creek where she had been since the pre-opening. Earlier this year Ms. Watson also received the General Manager Of The Year Award from Marriott International.
