The Academy was transformed into a 'Heritage Village' with the décor and ambience resembling traditional dwellings and alleyways in the UAE. A series of activities such as alyola and razfa dances, henna applications, preparation of traditional coffee and handicraft displays were also part of the celebration.
Stuart Dennis, Principal of GEMS World Academy said:
"Inter-cultural understanding is one of the guiding principles of education at GEMS World Academy. We are proud to celebrate the UAE National Day in such a way that brings our students closer to the culture, traditions and people of the country in which they live and learn. We are also honoured to have HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein as the guest of honour at our Heritage Day. The support Her Royal Highness has demonstrated through her presence will promote cultural exchanges between expatriates and UAE nationals and strengthen bonds as global citizens."
