The Dubai Ladies Masters, scheduled for December 8 -14, 2008, is already shaping up to be one of the most emotionally charged sports events that have ever been contested in the UAE. The Ladies European Tour has been working diligently on a number of celebrations for both Annika Sorenstam's final tournament, and the 30th Anniversary of their tour, which now visits 22 countries worldwide.
There will also be many Swedish golf representatives, media and VIP's attending the event to take in Sorenstam's final shots.
Sulaiman Hamid Al-Mazroui, Executive Vice President, Group Marketing & Corporate Communications, Emirates NBD, was equally excited about the sponsorship: "We are privileged to be combining our efforts with 'golf in DUBAi', in promoting ladies golf in the region and showcasing the world's best women golfers in Dubai through staging of the Dubai Ladies Masters.
"We see a great synergy between both our organizations, as we work towards making Dubai the number one tourist destination of the world."
Emirates NBD won the 'Best Bank in the UAE' Award, strengthening the group's position as the leader of the banking industry. The renowned Global Finance Magazine recognised the largest Middle Eastern bank in terms of assets in the May 2008 issue of their publication, which was decided on by Global Finance editors, industry analysts and banking consultants in the Middle East.
"Sharing Emirates NBD's common goal of further cementing Dubai's position as a key player in the world's golfing community, we are delighted to have them once again on board for what we believe will be a splendid event. We are fortunate to have such a wonderful family of partners for golf in DUBAi,"
Buamaim added.
'golf in DUBAi' is backed by Dubal (Dubai Aluminium) as the main partner and Emirates-NBD, MasterCard, Jumeirah Hotels, Emirates airline, BMW, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Gulf News, Omega
and CNN as partners in its drive to showcase the emirate's vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
