Attending the launch ceremony which took place on November 19, 2008 were the CEO of Umniah, Mr. Joseph Hanania, the Acting Chief of Party for the Jordan Health Communication Partnership/Johns Hopkins University/Bloomberg School of Public Health funded by the USAID, Ms. Lina Qardan, and the Project Management Specialist in Population and Family Health/USAID, Dr. Basma Khreisat.
Umniah always prides itself on being the initiator of new and socially useful moves; and the advices on scratch cards vouch for that. The Company also devised a list of health information in cooperation with the Health Communication Partnership to enable subscribers choose any subject of health care that they are interested in.
The CEO of Umniah, Mr. Joseph Hanania said, "we appreciate the importance and the weight of this partnership, for its benefits to the Jordanian families and individuals. We are proud of being the first company to adopt such initiative. We encourage the private sector to contribute to health awareness activities in the Jordanian community, and to circulate health information to reach as many segments as it possibly can. We are looking forward to forging more collaboration with the Health Communication Partnership to provide clear and innovative health information.
From her end, Ms. Lina Qardan said:
"we, at the Health Communication Partnership, feel rewarded to have partnered with Umniah to create awareness for such a noble cause. It always helps us to reach youth, the builders of the future, through extending medical advice to them, and helping them to adopt the most suitable health measures and methods. I would like to reiterate my gratitude to Umniah for their support to our project by launching scratch cards containing messages that we were keen to deliver to the Jordanian public. I would also like to salute this creative and innovative idea for its institutional simplicity and clarity. At the same time, I am looking forward for further mutual collaboration."
Dr. Basma Khreisat expressed her satisfaction for launching the scratch cards. She also expressed her admiration of this initiative, aimed at benefiting citizens to help them build a healthier and safer life.
It is important to note that the Health Communication Partnership is a national health media program, implemented by a number of national strategic partners of public, private, and voluntary sectors namely: the Ministry of Health, the Higher Population Council-the General Secretariat, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Interior / Department of Civil Status and Passports, and the support of the Health Communication Partnership (John Hopkins University), with the technical support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
