Haute-Couture creative glass art at Index Dubai
- United Arab Emirates: Sunday, November 30 - 2008 at 11:45
- PRESS RELEASE
Index 2008, the largest interiors event in the Middle East, is set to host suppliers as they descend on Dubai.
An artist, a craftswoman and a creator in glass art, Sylvie Montagnon expresses herself through upscale art and decoration, with collections of uncommon, original objects.
She will be exhibiting her style and her know-how at Index 2008 in Dubai from December 3rd to 7th.
In mighty or elliptical volumes, the artist's vases, lights, decorative panels, furniture and sculptures stand out through their unconventional colours and their shapes, curves and pictorial arabesques. Glass and crystal compete in density and transparency, revealing intertwined lacquers and pigments that produce unusual chromatic ballets and unexpected plays on light. The colour range blends Mediterranean blues, incandescent ochre, constellations of gold and emerald... And so we have bona fide paintings coming to life under the brush of Sylvie Montagnon - real or fantasy landscapes. Her abstract style plays on the movement, the lines and colours that successive firings will fix and crystallise, creating unique, personal worlds where glass becomes canvass.
Sylvie Montagnon, a true expert in a technique she has been refining for 20 years, learnt her craft at the hands of great masters, sculptors and glass artists - thus gaining mastery in several glass painting techniques, both hot and cold. Presenting two collections every year, exhibiting rare works in galleries, gift shops and decoration stores, undertaking bespoke projects with interior decorators, and boasting customers in France and abroad, Sylvie Montagnon has established her style, fully symbolising French know-how. Her luxury, "Haute-Couture" glass works have already captivated art lovers and international glass collectors.
Every work is named and signed by the artist, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Those creations bearing exotic, mythical or symbolic names will find pride of place in any interior - from the most contemporary to the most classic.
