Abdul Redha Ali Bin Redha, Project Director, Global Village, said:
"The UAE National Day is a historic occasion that laid the foundations for a modern state. As an integral component on the UAE's cultural landscape, the Global Village has put together a host of activities, including traditional performances, during the entire duration of the National Day holidays, capping off with a grand celebration specifically on 2 December. We believe the celebrations during the National Day festivities, in addition to the daily cultural and entertainment offerings at the premier regional venue, will ensure a memorable visit to our loyal patrons."
The 37th UAE National Day celebrations at the Global Village will offer exciting photo opportunities for families keen to participate in the festivities wearing the UAE national costume.
The 102-day new season of the Global Village that opened its 13th edition on 12 November 2008 will run until 21 February, 2009.
Hosting an exciting schedule of activities and entertainment including 40 fun fair rides, the overall offering of Global Village has been elevated substantially through the presence of the world's first Guinness World Records pavilion and the delightful participation of characters such as Barney TM and Bob the Builder TM from The Little Big Club.
A unique attraction this year is the Italian gondolas and Venetian rowing boats, which have been specially designed for this season. Ten of these boats, steered by operators in traditional costumes, traverse the lake every day, each with a four-passenger capacity, offering a scenic ride and an overview of the attractions at Global Village.
Located in Dubailand on the Emirates Road, the Global Village is anticipated to welcome at least five million visitors this season, exceeding the 4.5 million footfall registered during the 2007-08 edition.
Since inception in 1996, Global Village has evolved into a premier regional venue, celebrating diverse cultures, cuisine and commerce from around the world and a family destination for entertainment.
