At the awards ceremony in London, GTB editor Alan Burkitt-Gray said the industry is seeing a wave of innovation.

"As the move to IP rolls on through the world, some companies are clearly going to be challenged to put together the teams with the right experience. We're already seeing some of the pioneers moving on to new territories. But the judges were impressed with a project where one of the few true pioneers in the industry - BT Global Services and its Global Telecoms Markets Team - is working closely with Nuetel, in a managed services relationship."
Burkitt-Gray said.

Nuetel Communications and BT signed the original deal that includes the award-winning services in November 2007.

Under the terms of the agreement BT provides 24x7 technical support, monitoring and roll-out of leading converged services.

This is part of a strategic relationship between Nuetel Communications and BT covering technical consultancy and services development, joint marketing and the resale of BT's worldwide services.

Four other pioneering projects from BT were among the other winners of GTB Innovation Awards for 2008, including Openreach's fibre to the premises (FTTP) pilot, the BT Fon global wireless community and two more awards in the Business Fixed and Mobile Service Innovations section.

Additionally, BT Innovate won the business services innovation category for its Total ICT Orchestration project - a service that manages an organisation's wide area network, server and storage requirements in real time.

Mr. Jameel Al Matrook, Managing Director of Ossis, the holding company of Nuetel Communications, said: "We are honoured to receive this award and to be recognised in front of the global telecommunications community. This celebrates nicely our strategic relationship with BT."

Jinna Bains, Country Manager BT Middle East added:
"We are pleased to have won this award with Nuetel. This demonstrates that the market welcomes our ability to help local service providers go to market quickly with 21st-century services that appeal to their end users. This award will strengthen the relationships between both of our companies."
