Info2cell.com, a leading mobile application service provider in the Middle East, has announced the signing of an agreement with UAE-based Thuraya Telecommunications Co., the world's market leader for handheld mobile satellite services, to provide a WAP portal that can be accessed by Thuraya subscribers.

The WAP portal which will act as a micro website for Thuraya subscribers will offer various SMS applications and content, including news, entertainment and information services.

Following the agreement with Info2cell.com, Thuraya subscribers will have easy access to the latest political, business and sports news; stock market information; weather reports; and all breaking news stories, from their Thuraya handsets. Moreover, users can download an array of ring tones, wallpapers and games that are specially designed for Thuraya phones.

Thuraya is a pioneer in introducing the world's smartest (Thuraya SG-2520) hand-held satellite telephone that provides GPS services, and is compatible with GSM networks thus providing seamless communication wherever the user may be located. A WAP-enabled telephone, the SG -2520 will be the first and only satellite hand-held telephone to provide WAP services to its users. Furthermore, the content that will be provided by Info2cell on the Thuraya phone can be tailor-made to satisfy user needs, hence Thuraya SG users will be able to access industry specific news.

"This agreement with Thuraya represents another important milestone for Info2cell.com as we would now be extending our services to a new segment of customers; a substantial percentage of Thuraya's subscribers are located in remote areas that are usually beyond the reach of the GSM network. We are confident that Thuraya subscribers will fully appreciate the high quality of content made available to them via this WAP portal."

"Info2cell.com will also be providing a robust customer care application to Thuraya that will enable them to further enhance the quality of service being offered to their ever-increasing customer base regionally and internationally," he added.

"This agreement is in line with Thuraya's ongoing customer-centric strategy to meet customers' wants and enrich their lives. We have the smallest and smartest phones and now users of Thuraya phones will have the world at their fingertips, allowing the Thuraya hand-held experience to be unique, dynamic and interactive. In an information-based age we are excited to be the first providers of WAP in the MSS world,"
