Mr. Al Hadabi has assumed his responsibilities since September 2008.

Mr. Al Hadabi assumes leadership of OETC as the state-owned company prepares to embark on a significant qualitative and quantitative enhancement of the Main Interconnected System, which is the vital lifeline of the Sultanate's power infrastructure.

OETC's mandate is to operate, maintain and develop a robust and technically sound power transmission grid that is well geared to meeting the rapidly expanding energy requirements of Oman. It also tackles a host of emergent challenges, such as the role of renewables in power generation, decommissioning of outdated generation plants, and the likely impacts of regional interconnection on the domestic network.

As a veteran of Oman's power industry, Mr. Al Hadabi brings to the table a solid and comprehensive grasp of the workings of all the major components of the generation, transmission and distribution business. A postgraduate in Electrical Engineering from the UK, he has over 20 years of professional experience covering the gamut of the power sector business. He held various technical and executive positions within government (former Ministry of Housing, Electricity and Water - MHEW) and power utilities.

Prior to his recent appointment, he was General Manager of Majan Electricity Company (MJEC), a subsidiary of Electricity Holding Company, (EHC), as is OETC, responsible for power distribution in the Dhahirah and North Batinah regions. During his posting at MJEC, Mr. Al Hadabi is credited with enhancing operational efficiencies and streamlining business practices.

"My vision for OETC is to support the company's development as a provider of reliable and secure electrical power, and thereby aid the nation's ongoing economic development. OETC has the potential to emerge as the pre-eminent transmission services provider in the region,"

Mr. Al Hadabi commented.

OETC, one of several subsidiary companies created by the unbundling and restructuring of the power and related water sector, operates an elaborate transmission system serving Muscat Governorate and the Batinah, Dhahirah, Interior and Sharqiya regions.

The grid comprises around 600 km of 220KV transmission circuits, 2,700 km of 132KV transmission circuits, around 35 grid stations, and over 10,700 installed transformers. The company also operates a Load Despatch System for power interconnected system.
