Drydocks World-Dubai wins Lloyd's List Shipyard of the Year 2008 Award

Drydocks World - Dubai, the ship repair, conversion and building subsidiary of Dubai World, has won the Lloyd's List Middle East Shipyard of the Year Award for 2008.

This is the fourth successive year that Dubai's prestigious shipyard wins this award, a reflection of its highest standards of service excellence and achievements.

Commenting on the achievement, Nawal Saigal, Managing Director, Drydocks World- Dubai, said:
"Winning the Lloyd's List award for the fourth successive year clearly reflects our team's commitment to realising our corporate vision, which is to be valued by our clients and employees as the world's leading ship repair, conversion and new building group. The award gives further boost to Drydocks World - Dubai's international recognition for outstanding achievements. The awards and honours the shipyard has won underline Dubai's position as a leading maritime industry hub in the region and enhance the emirate's future plans to promote its marine services.

Mr. Mohammad Rizal, Production Director, Drydocks World Dubai, received the prestigious award from Mr. Abdullah Al Shuraim, Chairman of Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC, during the ceremony held recently at Dubai's Madinat Jumeirah. The awardees were selected by an independent panel of judges that comprised some of the most prominent names in the shipping industry.

Drydocks World - Dubai, which celebrated its Silver Jubilee early this year, was established with the merger of Jadaf Shipbuilding and Dubai Drydocks. Jadaf serves smaller vessel owners, while Dubai Drydocks, with one of the largest repair docks in the world, focuses on the upper end of the market. The company won the Ship Repair/Shipyard Award at the recently held sixth annual Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards ceremony.

A distinguished maritime landmark on Dubai shore, Drydocks World is well on its way to become a leading global entity with a firm base in South-East Asia through its expansion plans in India, China, and Vietnam.
