Universal Children's day celebrated at Global Village

Organized by Pratham, in collaboration with UAE Red Crescent. The event attempted to create an awareness of the Universal Rights of Children, with particular emphasis on Every Child's Right to Education, amongst the children of Dubai.

Emirates NBD, the main sponsors ,did everything possible to ensure every child enjoyed the evening and make the event a success.

Short documentaries were screened, by the representatives of NGOs like The Citizen Foundation to show the assembled children the rigours that lesser priviledged children of some countries go through to be educated.

A special effort was also made to make them realize to take the initiative to 'change lives' of millions of lesser priviledged children around the world. CREDO Investments the Gold Sponsors, with a very high representation on the day, approved the way children enjoyed themselves and their appreciation for less priviledged children is immense.

The pathway to the amphitheatre from the entrance was bedecked with colourful balloons, supplied by Babyshop, which made it easier to locate the amphitheatre venue within the very exciting Global Village.

A sizeable number of children, including children with specials needs, walked the red carpet before being photographed, participated in a graded (age wise) drawing competition on specified themes, Going Green, Peace and Universal Friendship, with the drawing board, paper and Staedler colour pencils provided by Hoshan Pan Gulf.

The children were entertained to an interactive session of entertainment with Musicians, Magicians and Jugglers. "Barney" and "Bob the Builder", organised by Jim Jam & Showtime, mesmerised the children. Friendly and Cuddly Barney in particular, met each and every child.

The thirst was quenched by Al Ain, titbits in form biscuits were provided by Britannia, and the wholesome, hygienic food by Lunch Boxes was relished with great gusto.

Printex helped with the printing of colourful banners with pictures of lesser priviledged children, in their milieu, who would benefit from this event. They also educated the gathered children on the virtues of Go green concept by recycling printer cartridges.

RAGE explained the nuances of Tech Deck skateboarding to older children. An impromptu quiz was conducted featuring the various sponsors and the winners received goodies from them.
The drawing competition was judged by local artists and the sponsors for the day. 9 winners, 3 in each category, were chosen. Everyone went back with fond memories. More the children who were seen clutching on to goodies, that each of them received.

The volunteers came in great numbers, comprising students from various universities, teachers, parents and generally the adults of Dubai, ensured every child was safe and looked after well. Without Dubai's enthusiastic Volunteer force the event would not have been successful.
