Hala Supply Chain Services (HSCS), a leading Saudi Arabian supply chain and logistics company, understands that achieving sustainability to ensure future growth and success is a two-fold process. Costs and sales need to be optimised for economic sustainability, while the optimisation of energy efficiency for environmental sustainability is as important.
Pieter Spaarwater, Business Development Manager at Hala Supply Chain Services, said:
"Hala has introduced two new, innovative service offerings that allow companies to establish competitive advantage in terms of costs and environmental impact. These are our Route Optimisation service and Overflow Warehousing facilities."
Hala's Route Optimisation software is the only commercially available service that bases its process on multi-level GPS maps of Saudi cities. Through the efficiency of this service the number of deliveries per vehicle per day increases by approximately 20%, with a corresponding lowering in fuel consumption and vehicle wear and tear. Not only are more sustainable sales levels achieved at lower costs, but reductions in fuel consumption imply greater energy efficiency and a decrease in carbon emissions.
Hala's Overflow Warehousing facilities in Dammam, Riyadh and Jeddah provide a total of 60 000mē storage capacity in ambient, air-conditioned, chilled or frozen space. This service ensures significant savings on capital expenditure as clients no longer need to build new facilities, while sustainable business practises are also assisted through the use of a centralised and optimised facility.
"Competitive advantage in the current environment will not come from simply tightening belts. Addressing processes to establish innovative ways of doing business as well as minimising a company's carbon footprint are measures to ensure competitive advantage in a sustainable and long term way," concluded Spaarwater.
