  • Middle East: Wednesday, December 03 - 2008 at 08:33

GCC member states may be able to reach agreement on the specifics of the GCC Railway project by the end of 2008, reported MEED. The 1,500-kilometre project, which is expected to cost about $14bn and will connect all six member states, will be discussed at the next GCC Summit, in Muscat on 29-30 December. Members are said to be close to agreeing to final terms for the project, including the issue of whether to have a single regulator overseeing the project or six separate bodies.
