It was right here at Hyatt Regency Dubai where John began his career with Hyatt in 1982, before being immediately posted to Hyatt Regency Riyadh as Executive Sous Chef.
After two years in Riyadh, he was promoted to the position of Executive Chef with Hyatt Borneo Management Services in Brunei and, within three years, became Operations Manager.
In 1989, John arrived at Hyatt Regency Singapore to take over as Executive Assistant Manager, Food and Beverage, and Area Director of Food and Beverage South East Asia.
He remained in that position for about two years before moving on to become General Manager of Hyatt Regency Pusan in South Korea in 1992.
After a two-year assignment there, in 1994, he returned to Hyatt Borneo Management Services as their General Manager and, in 2000, went to Grand Hyatt Singapore as Hotel Manager.
This year, John transferred back to the hotel where his career started.
John said,
"I am delighted and feel privileged to have been appointed General Manager of this outstanding hotel. For me, it is a homecoming, having started my career with Hyatt at this same property. I anticipate a great working partnership with the hotel's team as we engage with our customers and the community to deliver a truly memorable experience. Dubai is such an exciting environment, especially for our industry, and it is great to be back in this vibrant country."
John holds the Malay title of Dato, conferred by the Sultan of Pahang in Malaysia.
Also during his assignment in Brunei, his services were recognised by His Majesty, the Sultan of Brunei.
In 1997, His Majesty bestowed on him the title of Darjah Paduka Seri Laila Jasa (S.L.J).
