The thalassemia screening for employees of Emirates Post was managed by UAE Genetic Diseases Association, and was aimed at supporting the association towards achieving its goal of eliminating thalassemia by 2012.
A group of scouts and several employees of Emirates Post took part in a National Day march, while children sang patriotic songs and performed national dances, in front of the Deira Main Post Office which wore a festive look, resplendent in the national colours of red, green, white and black.
"We wanted to do something more meaningful for the National Day. The thalassemia screening drive was our way of raising awareness about the genetic disease, and we hope this will encourage more people to screen their blood to check for genetic disorders."
said Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam, CEO, of Emirates Post.
