The winning entries from this contest will be sent to the annual UAE Children's Painting Competition, which has already attracted more than 100,000 entries from 700 schools spanning across the UAE. The theme for the Palm Utilities painting competition was in line with this year's UAE Children's Painting Competition theme, "Save Water." The competition had the support of major sponsors including Nakheel Asset Management, MPJ-Marketing Pro-Junction and the Bidibondi Club House.
Keith Levers, CEO, Palm Utilities pointed out that the event is the company's way of reaching out to the community.
Levers said:
"This activity is our way of saying thank you to the community around us, and what better way than to reach out to the children and actually know how their young minds perceive environmental issues. We are happy to support efforts like the UAE Children's Painting Competition and other related endeavors that aim to keep us aware of issues affecting the environment and the community we live in."
Rhys Williams, Compliance Director, Palm Utilities, shared that the event was quite a happy experience for the kids that participated, "The students who joined the contest surely had fun, being able to relate their ideas and views on a pressing issue like the water crisis and transforming it into little works of art. I am sure the judges had quite a hard time picking out the final entries."
The UAE Children's Painting Competition is held annually to help generate awareness about pressing environmental issues among children. A panel of judges will pick out the best 100 entries and will be honored at a Grand Awards Ceremony on December 15, 2008.
The Annual UAE Children's Painting Competition is conducted under the patronage of the Ministry of Education with support coming from AGMC - BMW.
