The stones range in sizes from 0.08 to 25 point carats and the price starts from Dhs750 to Dhs15,000. The new packets will be available from select Damas stores in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, ahead of Eid from December 1, 2008 onwards.

Damas is the first retailer in the UAE to offer packets of multiple loose polished diamonds.

Tamjid Abdullah, Deputy Managing Director, Damas, commented:
"With our loose polished diamonds package, more customers will be able to buy diamonds for investment purposes or for making jewellery in the designs they like. This is the first time we are offering multiple loose diamonds in single packets; it is an economical option for consumers."

All the polished diamonds in the new package are certified by International Diamond Laboratories, a Dubai government initiative to ensure the quality of diamonds sold in Dubai.

Peter Meeus, CEO of International Diamond Laboratories, commented:
"Damas was the first retailer to sign up for our certification service and we are happy to continue our partnership with them. Each of the diamonds in the packet will be certified by IDL providing consumers immediate information on the 4 Cs- carat, colour, clarity and cut - of individual diamonds. This assures customers of the value and quality of their purchase. Our certificates are recognized internationally and are available in English and Arabic."

Damas also offers customers the option of returning the diamonds when the value goes up.

According to Ajay Pandey, Deputy General Manager - Products and Brands, Damas, "There is a growing interest among consumers to buy diamonds as an investment especially in the current economic slowdown. The new packets of multiple loose diamonds will make investment in diamonds more accessible to consumers. Launched just ahead of Eid, this is also an excellent gifting option."

The new packets of loose diamonds are available in Dubai at Damas stores located in Gold Souq, Meena Bazaar and Deira. It is also available at select Damas stores in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah.
