During the formal inauguration ceremony - which was attended by various high-ranking officials and dignitaries including ministers, diplomats and business leaders, in addition to media representatives - H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan pressed a button to unveil a specially designed memorial plaque to mark the historic event.

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan, accompanied by the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and other guests, later toured the entire premises.

H.H. conveyed his good wishes to the Chamber and highlighted the significant role it plays in protecting the interests of the business sector and contributing to socio-economic development.

The opening of the new SCCI headquarters comes at a time when the Government of Sharjah is focused on developing the private sector, while furthering public-private partnership and enhancing the role of the SCCI, in terms of the services it offers to its members.

The move heralds a new era of economic growth for the rapidly developing emirate of Sharjah.

The land for the new SCCI facility was provided by H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi himself as a sign of support and appreciation for SCCI's productive efforts in boosting domestic economic activities through its members and its programs and enhancing private-public sector collaboration.

The three-storey SCCI headquarters, located in the Sharjah Expo City -which also includes the Expo Centre - will comprise all SCCI offices in addition to a World Trade Club, a permanent exhibition area for local industrial products, a conference hall, meeting rooms, the Sharjah Business Women Business Council office, and Training Rehabilitation and Commercial Arbitration Centers.

Public services meeting the needs of the SCCI are also based in the building.

H.E. Ahmad Mohammad Al Midfaa, Chairman, SCCI, said:
"The opening of SCCI's new headquarters is a major milestone for us and marks a new beginning in the Chamber's evolving role in developing Sharjah's society and economy, specifically focusing on enhancing trade and commerce. The operational capabilities provided by our new headquarters and the facilities such as the permanent trade centers that are available to countries with which Sharjah has strong trade ties, will contribute in significantly boosting UAE's economic appeal regionally and internationally. We believe our new headquarters will help us take a step further towards our goal of sustainable progress across socio-economic and cultural fields."

H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi issued directives to ensure that the design of the new SCCI headquarters reflects the unique Islamic character of Sharjah.

The interior of the building combines the best of tradition and art with the most modern facilities to cater to the requirements of the Chamber's staff and local and international visitors.
