Mary Coughlan, T.D. During the discussion, H.E. highlighted the key attributes that are essential to become successful leaders, specifically citing examples from her experience as Ireland's Deputy Prime Minister. H.E. Mary Coughlan, T.D. is also Ireland's Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the ministry which oversees Enterprise Ireland.

Adel Al Shared, Executive Director of MBRPLD, said:
"The visit of such a high profile Irish trade delegation highlights the growing appeal of the UAE and Dubai in particular on a global scale, especially as a prime investment destination. Moreover, such meetings with international delegations are in line with MBRPLD's broader approach that includes provisions on strengthening bilateral ties with foreign enterprises and creating mutual growth opportunities. We are confident that following this visit, the Irish Trade Mission would have got a clear view of the direction and intentions of Dubai in terms of economic development and ultimately encourage them to take advantage of Dubai's enormous business potential."

The Irish Trade Mission, which is represented by approximately 80 companies, is one of the largest trade missions ever to leave Ireland, underlining the significance of this visit to the UAE. The Irish delegation's meeting with participants of MBRPLD's Government Leaders program participants followed a special request by the Trade Mission.

Mohammed Al Mehairi, a participant, commented, "This trade reception hosted by the Irish delegation has been an inspiration for participants of the Government Leaders program and it underlines the continuous pursuit of the program to provide valuable exposure by facilitating discussion sessions with eminent international leaders and decision makers. This meeting also complements the program objectives that are in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan."

Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD):

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD) is an innovative leadership program designed to develop future national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of the United Arab Emirates. The long-term training program, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, consists of four programs: Young Leaders, Promising Leaders, Government Leaders, and the Director General Majlis Program.

The MBRPLD strategy, which involves scouting the country for the most promising young nationals and preparing them to take charge of the UAE's future development initiatives, has been widely recognized for its critical role in the professional development of current government leaders. The program has recently been bolstered by alliances with world-class institutions Duke Corporate Education and INSEAD, the business school of the world, in a move to further develop MBRPLD's comprehensive training schedule and expand its educational resources.

The program was launched in 2003 according to a long-term multi-tiered plan to ensure the ongoing development of leaders in all governmental institutions; to ensure the development of leaders with world-class skills and expertise; to increase the ability to retain highly qualified employees; and to make good use of the experience and potential of current leaders.
