Emaar, The Economic City, hosts Export Development Canada and Australian Trade delegations on tour of KAEC

Emaar, The Economic City, the Tadawul-listed company developing King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), recently hosted a Canadian Construction Trade Mission organized by Export Development Canada (EDC), Canada's leading export credit agency.

Led by Mrs. Françoise Faverjon-Fortin, Vice President - Infrastructure & Environment, EDC, the delegation consisted of 31 participants representing 26 Canadian organizations. They toured KAEC and explored potential opportunities in the field of construction and infrastructure within the mega-project.

Mr Ramzi Solh , Director, Special Projects, Emaar.E.C, and Mr. Asem Shehabi, Director, Anchor Investments Development, Emaar.E.C, welcomed the delegation, and presented an overview of the investment opportunities in the construction and infrastructure sectors within KAEC.

Boosting cooperation with Canadian companies and professionals with KAEC was discussed with the visiting delegation.

EDC is wholly owned by the Government of Canada and is financially self-sustaining operating to commercial principles.

EDC is a recognized leader in financial reporting, economic analysis and has been named one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for seven consecutive years.

On the other hand, KAEC hosted a delegation from the Western Australia Commercial Office in frame of a regional tour in cooperation with the Commercial Section of the Government of Western Australia in the Middle East.

Mr. Sameer Al Ghamdi, Senior Manager, External Relations, Emaar.E.C, accompanied the visiting delegation and presented an overview of the potential investment opportunities and the latest developments achieved on KAEC.

Located on the Red Sea coast, the 168 million sq m KAEC has six key zones: The Sea Port, Industrial Zone, Central Business District, Educational Zone, Resort Zone and Residential Communities.

The first phase of the mega-proj`1ect comprising the Sea Port, Industrial Zone and Residential Communities has been launched to overwhelming investor response.

KAEC has already attracted SR130bn inward investments this year, particularly driven by the Industrial Zone.

Emaar, The Economic City, established in September 2006, is a Saudi joint stock company managed by Emaar Properties PJSC, one of the world's largest property developers, and a number of high profile investors from Saudi Arabia. Emaar.E.C has a share capital of SR8.5bn consisting of 850 million shares of nominal value SR10 each. Thirty per cent of the equity, worth SR2.55bn, was offered for public subscription.

Based on initial forecasts, the project and its several components will create up to one million employment opportunities in the various industries and service-oriented companies that will open in KAEC. It will also be home to 2 million residents.
