Dubai Media Incorporated to sponsor 'TV Documentary' category at Ibda'a Media Awards 2008

Dubai Media Incorporated, one of the Middle East's pioneering media organizations and creative services group, announced it will honour the winner of the 'Best TV Documentary' at the 2008 Ibda'a Media Student Awards with an all expenses paid package comprising return air fare to Dubai, accomodation, daily allowance, plus a coveted internship at the DMI headquarters.

DMI's participation as co-sponsors of the seventh edition of the Ibda'a Awards comes out of its firm commitment to recognise and celebrate creative media excellence.

Ahmad Al Mansoori, General Manager of Sama Dubai will present the award on behalf of Hussein Ali Lootah, CEO Dubai Media Inc. at a gala ceremony on 27 November that will also spotlight winners in 9 other categories including journalism (non-news), radio, animation, graphic arts, analogue photography, digital photography, print advertising, TV advertising, film/TV feature, TV documentary.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Hussein Lootah, CEO, DMI, said:

Organized annually by Dubai Media City, a member of TECOM Investments, in partnership with the International Advertising Association UAE Chapter (IAA - UAE), the competition will culminate in a gala celebration, showcasing outstanding submissions to the awards and rewarding attractive cash prizes, internships, and latest media equipment to prize-winning entrants.

To date, Dubai Media City has received a total of 2,227 submissions from 25 countries for this year's edition of the competition.

A jury of eminent panellists has shortlisted 42 entries that will vie for honours in the final round.

Selected entries, representing outstanding media talent from Egypt, India, Iran, Lebanon, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Africa and the UAE, will be up for display at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre from 24-29 November.

Established in 2001, the annual Ibda'a Awards invite undergraduate media students from around the world to submit their work for evaluation in a range of formats.
