Bahraini Women's Day is a new milestone in the march of Bahraini women towards progress and was selected by the Supreme Council for Women since it was on this day 80 years ago that formal education had begun in Bahrain for girls in 1928.

"Bahraini women have a rich history of empowerment and progressive contribution to society. At Tamkeen, where we work to open the doors towards empowerment and prosperity, we ourselves have a women staff strength of 46% at all levels of operation and work very hard to encourage women to choose new career options and seek higher business development targets,"
said Tamkeen's Chief Executive Mr. Abdulellah Al Qassimi,

The 15 businesswomen honoured by Tamkeen are: Suhaila Awwachi, Nahla Majed, Medina Mohammed Fardan, Jenan Al-Aani, Najat Sanad Rashed, Basema Hassan Ebrahim, Zahra Al-Qammar, Mona Ajaj, Ebtisam Hassan, Naema AbdulAziz, Najah Jassim Mohammed, Fathiya Ahmed, Narjes Khamis, Asma Mohammed Abdullah and Awatef Jassem.
Two of the recipients, Suhaila Awwachi and Nahla Majed spoke at the ceremony, thanking Tamkeen for its support of women in the Kingdom.

They have benefited from Tamkeen's SME development programmes and set new standards. "Although Tamkeen is an equal-opportunity organisation, we are proud that our programmes have been of use to women and we are proud of their success," said Mr. Al Qassimi
