As the Middle East's car rental market continues to grow and Oman emerges as a regional tourism destination, attracting visitors year-round from across the globe, Thrifty plans has opened its seventh location in Shatti Al Qurum in the Ramada Hotel Muscat.
According to government sources, travel and tourism in Oman is expected to have generated more than $5 billion of economic activity across the Sultanate in 2007, growing to more than $7bn by 2017.
Sam Eltibi, Executive Director, Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, MENA and Asia Pacific, said:
'The number of rental cars on the road has risen exponentially, as Oman's tourism sector continues to grow and experiences double digit growth. Thrifty is successfully meeting this growing demand with a new office opening to better serve customers' increasing needs. No other rental agency can offer the service we offer, the sheer range of models, or the exemplary customer service.'
The new branch will be headed by Mr. Mohammed Nishad, executive in charge. He will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations of the car rental facility and to achieve the overall sales target of the branch. One of Mohammed's key roles will be to tap the growing FIT and Group tourist requirements.
'With Mohammed's proven capability and strong knowledge of the car rental industry, operating procedures and strong analytical skills, I am confident in his ability to take on this new role,' said Mehdi Jaffer Deputy Managing Director, Thrifty Oman.
One of the fastest-growing organizations within the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group's Middle East franchise network, Thrifty Oman maintains a large inventory of quality vehicles in Oman, as well as conveniently located outlets, to meet the automotive rental needs of tourists, business travelers and residents.
In addition, Thrifty outlets can be found in Salalah, Sohar and Muscat.
