The world's longest footbridge between two buildings has brought together many leading nationally and internationally re-known companies reputed to be leaders in their field of building construction and the integral processes involved in it. With Union Properties business ethos of building 'quality with a difference', the Skywalk Bridge project has seen the likes of Al Naboodah Laing as main Construction Contractors, Hyder Consulting Middle East Limited as Structural Design Engineers and Edara as Project Manager working harmoniously to ensure the bridge project's safe and successful completion

Simon Azzam, Chief Executive Officer of Union Properties said, 'Each and every building project we complete is done so with the utmost professionalism from start to finish. The completion of the Skywalk Bridge is only different in that we have built a significant landmark, a world record. There have been many different facets to this job, all that have required complete harmony between management, contractors and suppliers. The successful completion gives credence to the cooperation and smooth business acumen of those involved.'

The Skywalk Bridge project has been a one-off, technically demanding project, requiring a great deal of design from first principles, as well as a close degree of co-ordination and discussion.

Noel Dolan, Managing Director of Al Naboodah Laing said, 'This has been a huge project in all areas. Although as a company we have been involved in numerous and varying construction projects, it's not often a company can say that they have been involved in something of such significance. Technically it has been demanding, but this has allowed us to expose our true ability and a main contractor ensuring that there is consistency throughout all aspects of the project and with all companies involved.'

The Skywalk Bridge will link the buildings at the nineteenth floor and will give residents of the towers' apartments access to the shared leisure facilities including a swimming pool, gym and sauna. The buildings themselves are each 20 story's high occupying a prime site overlooking Dubai Creek and are a prominent landmark feature for visitors entering Dubai across the Al Maktoum Bridge.

Other companies involved in the development and construction of the Skywalk Bridge include; Eversendai Engineering LLC - bridge erecting, Emirates Building Systems (a Dubai Investment company) - steel structure fabrication, DMI (Danish Maritime Institute) - Wind Tunnel Testing, Structural Mechanics And Damping (SMD) - damping devices designed and fabricated, Ian Banham & Associates / Thermo Electrics LLC - MEP Consultant, Bureau Veritas - independent third party checking organization and TTS International / Crescent Carriers - Transport.
