Designed to foster the latest top class travel and tourism education among travel agents, Travel Agent's Day combines skills, learning, product knowledge and great competitions.

The new-look format will also afford destinations an opportunity to showcase their brand to the regional and international industry in a dedicated show-floor theatre.

Reed Travel Exhibitions - the company behind the event - believes it will be an invaluable avenue for tourism bodies to talk directly to those selling their destination to end-users.

"We had over 3,000 agents through the door for the inaugural Travel Agents Day and the feedback from both attendees and exhibitors was extremely positive. We are repeating the event in 2009 and hope to welcome and provide even more industry figures with an invaluable tool with which to increase their knowledge of, and contacts within, the region."

said Simon Press, Arabian Travel Market's Exhibition Director.

"Given the uncertain economic conditions facing our industry, it is more imperative than ever that destinations are doing their utmost to communicate their unique selling points to travel agents. Arabian Travel Market is all about providing a knowledge platform for all corners of the travel and tourism sector to discuss and develop. No initiative conveys this vision more than Travel Agents Day."

Also returning to Arabian Travel Market 2009, running at Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre (DIECC) from 5-8th May, will be the Travel Agents Day Passport scheme.

Instigated to provide 'fun competitiveness', travel agents are provided with a mock passport and can win prizes by visiting exhibitor's stands and answering questions.

The day will culminate with an award presentation on the 'Travel Agents Stage'.

The strategy behind Travel Agents Day is part of the event organisers' wider vision to position Arabian Travel Market as a rich, factual experience and the international travel and tourism industry's premier stage for conducting Middle East business.

A number of other knowledge-centric initiatives will also be retuning for 2009, including an expanded seminar programme, increased year-long web presence and networking facilities and the show's pioneering Hosted Buyer Programme.

Registration for Travel Agent's day is free of charge.

Arabian Travel Market is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, Ruler of Dubai, and under the auspices of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Government of Dubai.

About Arabian Travel Market:
Arabian Travel Market was launched in 1994, and the 2008 event - which marked the show's 15th anniversary - opened with its largest ever exhibitor base of 2,208 participants from 70 countries.
In addition, floorspace bookings from international representatives in Asia, the Americas, Europe and Africa had grown by 10 percent, with Middle East companies increasing their allocation by five percent.

The 2008 show also boasted close to 90 new-to-market exhibitors, as well as increased space uptake from over 62 national tourist bodies with products and services representing 70 countries, including show debutants Bangladesh, The Philippines, Djibouti, Georgia, Senegal and Nepal.
The event's signature awards scheme, the New Frontiers Awards, will be staged for the fourth time in 2009. Presented to a destination that has made a remarkable recovery and positive contribution to tourism development in the face of the overwhelming adversity, the award, which is chosen by a panel of judges consisting of regional and international industry professionals, is one of the show's highlights.
