Batelco, the Kingdom's leading telecommunications company is delighted to announce the commercial launch of a new type of Roaming service for in-flight communication for Voice & Data (GPRS and SMS) with OnAir Switzerland.
OnAir is the leading provider of in-flight communications owned by SITA and Airbus. It is the only air-travel industry sponsored solution, now available to regular and low-cost airlines, private and corporate jets, Airbus and Boeing aircraft and on long and short-haul flights.
OnAir is the only provider of services based on SwiftBroadband, the latest high-bandwidth satellite technology from Inmarsat, which offers GSM and GPRS for voice, data and internet.
With OnAir, passengers are able to use their own portable electronic devices including laptop computers, mobile phones, smartphones and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), as well as the airline's in-seat equipment, to communicate in flight, just as they do on the ground.
OnAir is currently live with TAP Air of Portugal, and soon will be launching with the following Airlines:
• British BMI.
• Irish Ryanair.
• Oman Air (Oman).
• Jazeera Airways (Kuwait).
• Wataniya Airways (Kuwait & UAE).
• AirAsia (Malaysia).
• Royal Jordanian Airlines (Jordan).
• Shenzhen (China).
