"For me the great thing about the AIESEC Symposium was the audience," says Abeer Al Jasim, GM of Knowledge Horizon Training Institute.
Al Jasim was a panelist at the Symposium, which was AIESEC's launch event in Oman. Commenting on the Symposium Al Jasim said: "I think the topic the symposium addressed, talent in Oman, is a crucially important one and the range of issues we discussed was excellent. For me, though, the one that was most important was how to sustain training on a tight budget. It is so relevant and something that is faced by so many, as more and more young people seek the qualifications they need to get the career they deserve."
The Knowledge Horizon GM suggested that e-Learning could be one way forward in helping the Omani talent pool meet its training needs: "Demand for training is increasing all the time but obviously the capacity of training institutes, like anywhere in the world, is limited in terms of numbers and the range of what they can offer. Of course bodies like AIESEC help many young people by sending them on their programmes but generally that experience makes them more ambitious and hungry to get more qualified."
"At Knowledge Horizon we see e-Learning as a major factor in the future of training. It makes more courses available to more people and more economically - it saves money without cutting corners. And let's face it, this kind of learning is more engaging to younger generations that have grown up with Playstations and Gameboys."
"E-Learning is a formidable tool for giving access to learning to a wider range of people. It broadens opportunity and enhances the learner experience. It gives the opportunity to learn what you want, when you want and where you want. In my experience it really captures the imagination of learners. It's moved on so much in recent years. That's why we've included the e-Learning solution 'Training Time' in the options we offer our students at Knowledge Horizon - it opens up quality professional training to so many more people."
"The opportunities for training are out there for our young people and given what I saw from this audience I'm sure they'll grasp them with both hands. I found their motivation and desire to succeed motivating and inspiring."
