The interest generated highlights the strength of wellness medicine in the region.

Sietske Meerloo, Senior Marketing Manager, IIR Middle East, said:
"We had large numbers passing through the doors over the three days of the congress. It certainly proved popular both with medical practitioners looking to understand the latest techniques and potential end users interested in undergoing the various anti-aging treatments showcased at the event."

The global market for anti-aging products, services and treatments is estimated to be worth around $30bn and expanding quickly. With growing awareness about the importance of preventative medicine the market is increasingly attracting a younger clientele keen to maintain their youthful looks. As a direct result of this the consumer base is becoming broader and this trend is being witnessed to a greater degree in the Middle East with its booming population.

This is one of the reasons why ICAAM was such a success. Swiss based Teoxane was one of many international firms who exhibited at ICAAM.

"The visitors who are attending are very good contacts and the event itself has been interesting," said Julien Laloux, the company's area manager for the Middle East. "The market here is strong. We've been here two and half years and seen continued growth and that's despite the financial crisis. The market has lots of young consumers with money to spend on aesthetics. It's becoming a big market for us and is contributing to our overall turnover."

ICAAM didn't limit itself to the anti-aging sector. It focused on several important areas of health and this was welcomed by participants.

"Aesthetic medicine needs to go this way. There's a role to provide for all aspects, for anti-aging, for the technology, for the wellness side and to have it all open to patients. This kind of conference achieves this," said Steven Hopping, President of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery who spoke at ICAAM. "This Congress is exciting because it appeals to the global approach."

Christophe Luino, General Manager, Euromedicom who co-organised ICAAM Middle East said that the event was designed specifically to cater to the needs of those involved in this area of healthcare.

"In the congress we brought real high level renowned experts to present their techniques, the new orientations, the new trends in aesthetics and the simple and efficient techniques to propose to patients," he said.

Organisers said that the success of ICAAM has laid the foundation for the congress to become an established annual event.
