Mannai Auto sponsors Team AA Motorsports at Losail Sprint

True to its Motorsports heritage, Subaru was right in the thick of things at the recent Sprint at Qatar's world-famous Losail circuit.

Sponsored by Mannai Automotive. Qatar's female driver Reem Al Khater and the professional driver Abdul Wahid Abdul Haye made an impression driving the Subaru Legacy. In an event that featured 22 drivers facing each other off to clock the best time around the specially designed circuit, the Legacy team managed to run an impressive 1.44.00 and 1.44.03 minute sprint coming in3rd (Abdul) and 4th (Reem) in their class. "We're thrilled with the performance of both car and drivers," said Dharmesh Bhatt - Subaru Sales Manager, Mannai Automotive. "This is the 3rd such event that we've sponsored this year and we're committed to continuing our support of motorsports in Qatar."

Mannai trading is part of the publicly held Mannai Group and the sole importer of such prestigious automotive brands as Cadillac, Hummer, GMC, Opel and Subaru in the country. The new Subaru Legacy 2009 is distinguished by revised styling featuring chrome crossbars and a central Subaru logo that represents the company's aeronautical heritage. It also has an all new front sheet metal with a larger grille opening, new front and rear bumper fascias, and new headlights and taillights. The new front and rear design features reduced overhangs for a sportier appearance.

Inside, the Legacy sports a redesigned instrument panel and all new interior fabrics. A telescopic steering column and a new integrated ignition key/remote entry unit are now standard. Distinctive electroluminescent gauges, formerly featured only on the turbo Legacy and Outback models, will now be on the 6-cylinder models for 2009.

On the premium models, a redesigned steering wheel offers additional controls including audio system, cruise control, the multi-information display and separate Subaru Intelligent Drive (SI-DRIVE) controls. SI-DRIVE allows the driver to maximize engine performance, control and efficiency by choosing from among three selectable modes - "Intelligent", "Sport" and "Sport Sharp." The driver selects the preferred performance mode by using a rotary dial on the center console or the newly added button on the steering wheel.

The Legacy and the Outback both have a stellar safety leadership record. Beginning 2008, the hi-tech Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) stability and traction system has been available in more Legacy and Outback models, and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is now standard on all Legacy and Outback models. Consequently, the Subaru Legacy has secured the highest honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Both the Outback and the Legacy have also received the highest possible rating in crash tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

"These two vehicles are among the safest cars on Doha's roads as of today," says Helmy. "And they're certainly two of our vehicles that we're proudest of as far as performance and safety go."
