Invitations to attend the workshop were sent to more than 80 contractors, heads of municipal councils, engineers in charge of implementing projects in the five municipalities, as well as service ministries like electricity, water, sewage and roads.
Senior Manager Access Network Delivery & Assurance Mohammed Al Mukhtar welcomed the participants and praised the level of co-operation between Batelco and all concerned parties as a result of the first workshop held last year, which led to a significant decrease in the number of incidents to the company's underground cables.
"We are here today to share with you our experience to enhance mutual communication and listen to you all so that we develop plans that help maintain the interests of all customers at all times."
he said.
Participants in the workshop gave presentations that demonstrated the elements of Batelco's network and urged all concerned parties to contact Batelco Plant Protection office on 80001101prior to beginning any new construction project.
Central Planning Unit Executive Co-ordinator at the Ministry of Works & Housing Mr. Dominic McPolin gave a short presentation in which he explained the procedures related to service provisioning that the Centre abides by to protect the Kingdom's network. He stressed the importance of every contractor taking their full legal and ethical responsibilities to ensure the safety of all services Batelco offers and other ministries as well as the workers. He also called on all to maintain Bahrain's image to help attract more companies and banks to the Kingdom.
Five contractors, who showed a distinguished level of co-operation with Batelco Plant Protection office, were presented with certificates of appreciation and trophies in recognition of their efforts to protect Batelco's network while implementing projects during 2008.
