Every child in the school, from 4 - 11 years of age, has created a piece of work inspired by a famous artist, and the children have looked at the methods adopted by their chosen artist and have gone through a number of classes to really help them to understand technique and how to apply it to their own piece of art.

Joining the Kings' children and teachers to admire the art work at the opening event, His Excellency, Mohammed Ali Al Hashimi said: "Art is a great way to inspire creativity and innovation, something we should harness in our younger generation, as it sets the foundation for intellectual and aesthetic growth, creating a well-rounded individual. I would like to express my sincere praise to the creative and talented children of Kings' Dubai; through this display the children have found a unique and refreshing way to express themselves."

"I would like to congratulate the parents and teachers who have offered their encouragement to these children to produce the dazzling and delightful display of beauty and colour in the exhibition."

Mrs Watson, Head Teacher and Art Co-ordinator at Kings' Dubai said:
"We always strive to give children the understanding, knowledge and more importantly the freedom to create a unique and individual piece of work. The intention is not to simply copy a famous painting, but to allow them to put their own stamp on a piece of art, whilst letting them take inspiration from some of the greatest artists from across the globe. We do not want a class full of identical pictures, our children are taught how to adapt their skills and bring in their own personality and skills to their work and the exhibition is a fantastic way of showcasing the amazing talent we have here at Kings."

It's a busy time for Kings' Dubai, as the students also prepare for two experience days to increase the children's cultural awareness and understanding. In the lead up to UAE National Day, the Kings' students will take part in an International Day in school where they will be given the opportunity to find out about different countries and gain an understanding of traditions and cultures from around the world. They will also be taken to a desert location for an Arabic Day to learn more about the UAE landscape and environment.

The Kings' Dubai Picture This! exhibition will be open for public viewings from Monday 15 December 2008 - Sunday 4th January 2009 at DUCTAC. Parents and the public are encouraged to buy the exhibits to raise money which Kings' will donate to charity initiatives.
