This award is given by Mr. Bill Marriott along with a symbolic present to all the associates who save a person's life during their working period with Marriott.

The mentioned associates were able to save the life of one of the 360 Renaissance Dubai Hotel associates living with them in the hotel housing.

Guest Relations Agent Michelle Engbino, one night suffered bouts of asthma and lost consciousness while sleeping.

Her flatmates at the hotel's housing immediately alerted Security Manager, Sylvester Barretto who in turn conducted Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with rescue breaths assistance from Michelle's flatmate, Mellisa Sabado.

She was then taken to the hospital. She would not have survived without Sylvester's and Melissa's quick call to action.

This incident has shown the importance of training hotel associates on emergency medical procedures, especially that of CPR, an important skill that could save lives.

As a result, the Security department designed two First Aid trainings annually.

The training will tackle general information on First Aid: basic life support, legal background of an incident and how to do accurate incident reports.

Other companies could also learn from this experience - first aid training skills is a must for everyone because in a life or death situation, you may just be the hero that can save someone's life.
