  • PRESS RELEASE

Areej, the fragrance and cosmetics retail chain, recently took part in one of the world's largest environmental campaigns - "Clean up the World".

The team at Areej head office, along with their families, Areej business partners, and other volunteers, came together to clean Jumeirah Beach, leaving it litter and debris-free.

Through the symbolic gesture of gathering members of the community, Areej contributed to the campaign's primary objective of raising awareness about local environmental issues with special emphasis on waste management and waste reduction.

Commenting on Areej's participation, T J Van Rooyen, General Manager, Al Tayer Trends - Beauty, said:
"We are proud to support this initiative for the fifth consecutive year. Areej believes in long-term investment, sustainability and preservation of the environment it operates in and this project reiterates our commitment towards achieving this goal."

"It was very encouraging to see the overwhelming response received from participants and the level of enthusiasm exhibited by all. Through this initiative we aimed to spread the message of eco-awareness and inspire people to become responsible citizens by contributing to a safer and cleaner environment. It has been very satisfying experience to see the positive outcome and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers for their tremendous contribution to make this event a great success," he added.

The campaign kicked-off last week and saw a large number of Areej volunteers participating in a clean-up drive spending several hours at Jumeriah Beach, collecting litter and debris that included remnants of fishing gear, wood, plastic, glass, sea weeds and several other waste material.
