The legacy of original Lee Cooper still lives in today's designs through quality fabrics and fine cuts. Today we celebrate the success of a brand that has been around for 100 years and at the same time look forward to extraordinary designs that will continue the success. This is indeed an exceptional milestone in the brands history that will always be talked about.'
The jeans label traces its roots to the production of overalls and work wear. Jeans were strictly for 'workman' during the first three decades of the century. In 1908, founder Morris Cooper created a work wear production company in his own name. By the 1910s, 600 people were employed in the Morris Cooper factory in London, producing work wear clothing from durable and versatile fabrics for various trades. Popular at the time were the Bib-and-Brace overalls.
A study of the brand's evolution clearly reflects the key trends that made it big in any decade. In the 1930s they produced Military uniforms and Khakis; the post-war period in the 1940s saw the focus shift from work-wear to denim and casual fashion with slacks, tartans, trousers, and cub coats marking the collection. The 1950s reflected the rock-n-roll fashion. In the 1960s coloured denim boomed with flower power and the decade also saw the birth of the first hipster bell-bottoms.
The tumultuous 1970s saw hemlines vary from mini to maxi to mini again, and the disco decade brought with it a sexier cut of jeans, hot pants for women and suede jeans for men. Corduroy & stonewashed jeans were another big 70s phenomenon. The 1980s saw many variations such as the paint-on skin tight jeans, drawstring jogging jeans, distressed jeans and the classic comfort fit. 1990s brought with them an eco-awareness which reflected in Lee Cooper's use of enzyme washes.
Using a near century's worth of expertise, Lee Cooper continues to introduce new lines that redefine fashion in terms of 'body and lifestyle awareness.' Lee Cooper's avant - guard fashion trends in the new millennium include: Flexible Denim jeans (a new generation of denim), water-resistant Aqua Denim jeans; and Lee Cooper's Reverso jeans. Distinctively different in style and fabric, these innovative product lines reflect today's trends in fashion, and therefore, in living. Perform your life and do it in Lee Cooper jean that suits 'you' best across the globe.
The popular jeans brand is reportedly sold in more than 70 countries for over a million customers. Recognized as one of the top selling brands for authentic European jeans, Lee Cooper continues to understand that innovation, comfort, style and performance is what the future demands. With that in mind, their designers' emphasis is put on the originality and the practicality of the jeans, as well as its style.
