Dubai Pearl employees donate $500,000 for Cinema Against Aids Dubai

In an extraordinary twist to the proceedings at Cinema Against AIDS Dubai, the exclusive auction held at Atlantis as part of the Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF) on Friday, December 12, it has emerged that 100 individual Dubai Pearl employees collectively raised an astounding USD 500 000 for amFAR, a leading HIV/AIDS research organization.

Their generosity is deeply appreciated by DIFF. Managing Director Shivani Pandya said:
"I was touched to hear that individuals had made this selfless gesture in recognition of the fact that the HIV/AIDS epidemic is one of the major problems facing the world today. Their initiative in the face of the suffering of others is extremely commendable, and we at DIFF respect and applaud their efforts."


Dubai Pearl was the sponsor of the evening's glittering charity auction, at which celebrity auctioneers Salma Hayek, Laura Linney, Jeffrey Wright, Terry Gilliam, Goldie Hawn, Danny Glover and Preity Zinta helped to raise $1.8m for amfAR's ongoing AIDS research programmes.
