HH Sheikh Ahmed scoops Lifetime Achievement Award

Emirates Group chairman HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum has won a special Lifetime Achievement Award, at the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2008.

Sheikh Ahmed was rewarded for his outstanding contribution to global business over the past two decades. The Emirates Airline boss was one of 18 winners to be recognised, at a glittering ceremony held at Dubai's Atlantis last night.

The awards were held under the patronage of His Excellency Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman, the Governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre, who joined ITP Group CEO Walid Akawi on stage to hand out the awards.

Mr Akawi said: "His Highness Sheikh Ahmed has contributed a great deal to making Arab business global business. His leadership, his vision and his management of what has become one of the world's greatest airlines, make him a worthy recipient of this prestigious award."
The Arabian Business Achievement Awards are now in their 9th year, and acknowledge the outstanding achievements of organisations and individuals in a range of industry sectors. The ceremony was attended by 350 guests comprising business leaders from across the region. This year's awards were chosen by a specially selected jury of business leaders and ITP Directors.

10. Small Business of the Year - Bateel
11. Young Business Person of the Year - Ahmed Al Dhaheri
12. Environmental Services of the Year - Masdar
13. Construction Company of the Year - Dubai Contracting Company (DCC)
14. Editor's Choice - Anas Kozbari
15. Businesswoman of the Year - Fatima Al-Jaber
16. Businessman of the Year - Fadi Ghandour
17. Business Leadership - Joseph Ghossoub
18. Lifetime Achievement - HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum
