Middle East to cut jet fuel exports by 11% in 2009

Analysts say Middle East refiners will cut jet fuel exports by 11% in 2009 due to surging demand from the region's carriers, reported Reuters. While European and North American airlines are struggling with falling passenger travel and cargo demand, Middle East carriers are pressing ahead with fleet and airport expansion plans being funded by the region's bulging oil revenues. Exports from the region are expected to be about 350,000 barrels a day next year, analysts predict, versus 390,000 in 2008.
