Prior to the presentation of the student business plans, e-commerce students heard insights from three female business leaders: Amal Abdulalla, strategic director of perfume retailer Royal Diwan; Maya Charara, speech and language pathologist and executive director of Stars for Special Abilities; and Sheikha Saif Darwish, senior analyst at Darwish Bin Ahmed and Sons. Each speaker shared an insider's view of her company, its services, and its growth.
Ms. Charara expressed her pleasure at getting acquainted with ADWC's e-business students, saying, "I'm very impressed to see the energy and creativity of these dedicated women."
The student business plans were introduced with an element of fun, including a student riding on roller skates to promote the online sale of hobby items; a fashion show to support the marketing of traditional Emirati dresses online; and live falcons onstage as part of a role play about the birds' beauty and skill, to encourage online falcon sales.
Numerous sponsors have generously donated to support the students' efforts, including Le Chocolat; Al Hamli Sweets; ALDAR Properties; Al Wathba Advertising; Safeer Flowers; My Little Angel Fashion retail; and Mohammed Rasool Khoory and Sons.
ADWC Director Dr. Bradley Cook acknowledged the sponsors as well as the participants, declaring:
"We are so proud of our e-business management students for putting together this event, and we're equally grateful to the invited guests and the generous sponsors who have helped make this day special for all of us. These kinds of hands-on projects give our students a head-start in the world of e-commerce."
