The damage to all three cables is located between Alexandria (Egypt) and Italy in the Mediterranean Sea

This has led to high levels of network congestion and degradation of international voice service and data traffic in the region impacting all customers in the UAE, LEVANT, Egypt and other parts of Africa.

du has taken immediate steps today and re-routed data and international voice traffic east through alternative cable systems through the Ear East and Western United States.

The top 50 voice destinations are now unaffected and only 15% degradation overall remains. Internet capacity is reduced but again additional capacity is being activated to the East which will restore performance to more normal levels.

This incident is not under du's control. However, du is trying to ascertain the reason of the damage from cable operators and is committed provide further updates and actions being taken.
