The festive tree complements the Eid décor of the mall that continues to entice visitors with hundreds of fairy lights and ornamental decorations. The bedecked ambience of the mall will be an added attraction for visitors during the festive season.
Mr Yousif Al Ali, General Manager, The Dubai Mall, said: "Following our Eid celebration, the festive tree lighting ceremony at The Dubai Mall marks our commitment to the society, as we launch a 'Giving Tree' campaign. Special greeting cards are being sold throughout the mall to support the Dubai Centre for Special Needs."
He added:
"The festive tree also comes at a highpoint in the retail calendar of the region. Visitor turnout and retail sales during the UAE National Day and Eid holidays were strong and we expect the trend to further strengthen with the New Year and Dubai Shopping Festival."
Twenty children from Dubai Center for Special Needs, along with their mentors and The Dubai Mall customers gathered around the tree and sang songs to mark the tree-lighting.
Sprawling over 12 million sq ft, with an internal floor area of 5.9 million sq ft and a gross leasable area of 3.77 million sq ft, The Dubai Mall is the flagship development of Emaar Malls Group, the shopping malls subsidiary of global property developer Emaar Properties.
