  • PRESS RELEASE

Dubai Industrial Academy (DIA), the dedicated vocational training centre of Dubai Industrial City, a member of Tatweer Dubai, stated that it was coordinating with leading organizations in Dubai and the region to offer sector-specific training for developing a qualified technical pool of UAE national professionals through top quality accredited courses.

DIA's initiative comes in response to the dire need for qualified UAE nationals across all sectors, especially in the oil and gas industry. Market surveys indicate two thirds of the UAE citizens comprise youth under the age of 25. Offering internationally certified training courses, DIA seeks to fill the employment gap and provide nationals with the opportunity to develop within niche professions.

Rashed Al Ansari, Vice President of Dubai Industrial City, said:
"The industrial sector is in urgent need for skilled talent as demonstrated through recent market studies conducted by the UAE Ministry of Economy. Identifying the region's skill pool crisis utilising advanced techniques, DIA will lead a comprehensive range of professional training programmes encompassing five different disciplines related to the manufacturing sector. Through our rich academic offerings, we aim to evolve as top providers of high-caliber manpower that caters to the region's demand in diverse industry verticals."

In its efforts to increase job opportunities for nationals in the manufacturing sector, Dubai Industrial Academy signed an MoU last July with TANMIA and the UAE Ministry of Economy.

Al Ansari added:
"In collaboration with leading private and public sector entities, Dubai Industrial Academy is working on activating and supporting strategic plans to hire nationals in the manufacturing domain. Our industry-specific training will help create a competent resource pool of professionals in the sector."

The first of its kind academy in the UAE, DIA is a dedicated vocational training centre set up by Dubai Industrial City in partnership with the UK-based Technical Training Group (TTE), recognized as a 'Centre of Vocational Excellence' by the UK Government.

Accredited by the UK-based City & Guilds, as well as the Dubai-based Knowledge and Human Development Authority, (KHDA), the DIA's short academic courses are offered to professionals in the industrial field and will primarily serve six major industrial sectors that define Dubai Industrial City including food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, and machinery and mechanical equipment industries.

Dubai Industrial Academy aims to offer over 250 courses in Quality, Health, Safety and the Environment (QHSE), Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Power Engineering, Instrumentation and Process Control, Chemical Process and Laboratory Operations, Oil and Gas, Construction, Logistics and Transport, as well as in Technical and Supervisory Development.
