  • PRESS RELEASE

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is holding formal seminars to Dubai's employers explaining their future statutory obligations under the new healthcare system.

The seminars, which have already attracted over 300 people, explain the health funding system and enable employers to ask questions to the senior DHA health funding team, led by Ms Laila Al Jassmi, Director of the Health Funding.

From 01 January 2009 all employees must be covered by a corporate healthcare scheme. As these policies are renewed in 2009 they will need to be replaced with new HBC (Health Benefits Contribution) compliant corporate healthcare schemes, whereby the employer will have to pay the Government a fee to enable their staff to access the healthcare system in Dubai.

As these new HBC policies are introduced, the employer must complete an enrolment form for each of its employees. A first draft of these forms will be published shortly. Everyone working in Dubai must be covered by an HBC compliant healthcare scheme by 31 December 2009.

Commenting on the seminars His Excellency Qadhi Saeed Al Murooshid, the Director General of the Dubai Health Authority, said:
"The DHA is committed to engage with Dubai ahead of the roll out of the new funding scheme in 2009. The presentations are an excellent opportunity to understand the system and to ask important questions ensuring your company complies next year. I would encourage all employers to attend."
