The partnership breaks new ground for healthcare in the Middle East, and positions the University Hospital as a leader and innovator of clinical quality through utilizing state-of-the-art healthcare information systems.

The EpicCare system will allow clinicians and patients at the University Hospital to view, share, and act on the latest patient information and clinical intelligence available worldwide for providing best-in-class patient care.

The University Hospital's high-quality healthcare will incorporate the latest medical research, technology and innovation, integrated with Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC) Institute for Postgraduate Education and Research, the Al Maktoum Harvard Medical Library, and DHCC's own electronic healthcare record.

Jim Kingsbury, Chief Executive Officer of University Hospital, said:
"The EpicCare Healthcare Information System will help us increase our operational efficiencies, leading to enhanced patient care and satisfaction. We are very proud to be the first healthcare institution in the MENA region to partner with Epic Systems, further contributing towards University Hospital's mission to be a premier academic medical institution providing quality healthcare to the region."

The University Hospital's partnership with Epic Systems covers all aspects of its clinical offerings as part of a comprehensive approach towards building one of the most technologically advanced hospitals in the region.

In addition, the integration with DHCC's electronic health record network will allow patient-centric records to be accessed wherever the patient or other health providers require up-to-date health information, including from their own homes.

Judy Falkner, Chief Executive Officer of Epic Systems, said: "Epic Systems and University Hospital share a vision for improving health information systems through an integrated approach. Our clinical and administrative software solutions offer the flexibility to integrate with clients' existing applications to positively impact the quality of patient care. We are excited to begin our partnership with University Hospital, and look forward to bringing our shared vision of transformed healthcare in the Middle East to life."

The selection of Epic Systems for University Hospital is the result of an exhaustive 11-month evaluation period, examining almost two dozen worldwide providers of healthcare systems.

On the basis of its exceptional fit for University Hospital's academic focus of best-in-class patient safety, quality, and hospital operations, Epic Systems was selected as the core system partner to drive patient-centric care in University Hospital and its planned ambulatory care centers.

This partnership will also further establish Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Center as a regional and international center for advanced medical services.
