Ministry of Education signs agreement with Microsoft Bahrain

Furthering its commitment to transform Bahrain into a knowledge based society, Microsoft today announced that it has signed the Partners in Learning agreement with the Ministry of Education in Bahrain for technical co-operation.

The signing of the agreement is driven by the need for technology education and infrastructure in Bahrain as the program recognizes the educational value of technology in schools and is designed to foster digital inclusion.

Under the Partners in Learning initiative, the Ministry of Education will receive technology training, tailored curriculum development, access to the latest technologies and the ability to empower schools to raise the levels of ICT literacy. It also enables innovative teaching with the aim of bridging the digital divide.

said Badea Esbai, Country Manager, Microsoft Bahrain.

Since its inception in 2003, Microsoft's Partners in Learning Program, together with the Ministry of Education in Bahrain has had a very positive impact on the education sector in the country by using ICT as a tool to empower students and teachers and transform education." he added.

Commenting on the agreement, Shaikh Hisham bin Abdul Aziz Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Bahrain Ministry of Education for resources and services said, "The agreement with Microsoft comes in line with improving the standard of education by using the best tools available to develop education and training. That will help transform Bahrain into a successful knowledge-based society. Putting technology to work for people throughout the country will enable us to strengthen our economy and create greater opportunities for young people to fulfil their dreams. We value Microsoft's support as we take positive steps towards becoming a truly digital society."

Partners in Learning is designed to actively increase access to technology and improve its use in learning. The goal of the program is to help schools gain better access to technology, foster innovative approaches to pedagogy and teacher professional development and provide education leaders with the tools to envision, implement and manage change. The three program areas include Innovative Schools, Innovative Teachers and Innovative Students that helps students and teachers around the world move beyond traditional learning models.
